much time indoors
2. Motivation

Conclusion: The Board of Education should
reduce the amount of material.
The education system became a highly
debated topic among people in Hungary. The
main problem in schools is the amount of material, because it leads to a plenty
of negative effects. Nowadays, children and adolescents must face a lot of
pressure and stress, caused by the numerous classes, subjects, tests and
exams. While the older generations had
to attend to nearly the same classes and deal with the struggles as well, even
the parents can sense the change by just looking at their kids’ timetables and
schedules.
Even in the first few grades of primary
school, children have at least five lessons a day, which was unimaginable a few
decades ago. The Board of Education raised the material so much, that it not
only effects the students’ but the teachers’ lives too. For example, teachers
must stick to the curriculum, but it is nearly impossible, because one cannot
explain this much of new information clearly during a lesson, which has only 45
minutes. Not to mention the need of revising, which could improve pupils’
performance at tests. Due to this fact, children
are unable to comprehend the material properly, which means that they will not
be able to get good grades, just acceptable ones. There are a few lucky students
among them, whose parents can afford a private tutor or teacher, but the others
are in a bad and unfortunate situation.
In addition, by staying this much in the
school and spending most of their free time in their room studying, children
and teenagers have no time for themselves. They cannot do any sports, hang out
with their friends and classmates or simply just relax a bit. They are under a
lot of pressure, people say too much pressure, no wonder they are so deeply
frustrated. In high school it is even worse, because it is not uncommon for teenagers
to have 8 classes a day, which understandably makes them exhausted, tired, stressed
and moody. The amount of expectations results in resistance and anger against
school and everything connected to learning or studying.
Clear to see that the Board of Education
should reduce the amount of material and change the curriculum because if they
do, it will result in better performance of the students in education.
